It has been called the “Alibaba of Africa” (and with good reason). The Traders of Africa (TOFA) platform represents tens of thousands of independent traders located in over 15 countries across the continent. TOFA is the brainchild of Global EMBA 2016 alumna Uju Uzo-Ojinnaka, and it was conceived right here at CEIBS. We asked Uju to tell us how TOFA came to be – and where it is headed.

As China’s economic ties with Japan continue to grow, business leaders from both countries are increasingly looking to one another for new commercial strategies and opportunities for sustainable growth. In her role as Seller Management Team Lead in Shopee’s Tokyo office, CEIBS MBA 2020 alum Mayuko (Mayu) Kawata understands this reality better than most. Singapore-based Shopee is one of the biggest e-commerce platforms in Southeast Asia. Through it, Mayu helps Japanese retailers better understand the Chinese market and how they can thrive there.

A Japanese national with long-standing ties to China, Shuko Anzai (Global EMBA 2020) has been instrumental in establishing the China branch of SPEEDA, an offshoot of Uzabase. We asked him about his CEIBS experience, his thoughts on Japan’s evolving business relationship with China, and his growing status as a social media influencer amongst the Japanese expatriate business community.

Early 2021 has been a time of reflection for many, as the severity of the global pandemic recedes and we consider how best to carry on with our lives and careers in the ‘new normal.’  We sat down with Laure-Cecile Lafond-Fenonjoie to find out what it is like working as a brand strategist and entrepreneur in China and why now was the right time to join our Global EMBA programme.

On 26th June, the CEIBS Shanghai campus hosted the very first Global EMBA Annual Symposium. Attended by about 250 Global EMBA alumni and students, alongside keynote speakers and panellists from internationally respected business institutions, this inaugural event gave attendees a new platform to explore the most relevant and pressing topics that are shaping business in China today, as well as China’s impact on the wider business world.

On Saturday 29th May, 44 students and alumni from the Global EMBA community met on campus for a reunion of the Class Committee Team (CCT) Union.
