CEIBS Career Development Centre and Shenzhen Alumni Chapter Host Online Job Fair

April 24, 2020. Shanghai – The first job fair of the season – the Shenzhen Boss Hire Virtual Presentation and Recruitment Event (Phase 1) – was held online today by the CEIBS Career Development Centre (CDC) and Shenzhen Alumni Chapter.

Affected by the COVID-19 epidemic, the job market continues to be under pressure. To help MBA students and alumni better manage their job search strategies and grasp market opportunities during this unusual time, the CDC and Alumni Association have begun hosting C-Suite Alumni Career Sharing Sessions along with a series of recent online recruitment fairs. The Shenzhen Boss Hire Virtual Presentation and Recruitment Event was the very first roadshow of the series.

CEIBS Vice President and Dean Professor Ding Yuan delivered an opening speech during the recruitment fair. He said that the achievement of CEIBS depends on the efforts and contributions of everyone, and that alumni support plays a very important part in this. He also noted that the employment rate of CEIBS MBA2019 students reached 94.3% last year, hitting 10 year high; however, facing the impact of the COVID-19 epidemic, MBA students this year face huge challenges in the job market. Moreover, he said that more efficient and effective communication channels between alumni and MBA students need to be established to help students secure their dream jobs.

The Shenzhen Boss Hire event was deemed “small, but elegant”. Five companies from the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area were invited to participate, including Miracle Light Life Science Accelerator (healthcare), Cowin Capital and Dingxin Capital (financial services), Puture (technology) and Ruico (Guangdong) Shipping & Logistics (energy logistics).

All of the guest speakers are CEIBS alumni holding c-suite positions in their respective companies. The speakers included Erik XU (MBA2013), Vice President from Miracle Light Life Science Accelerator; Bruce ZHANG (MBA2009), Technology Industry Partner from Cowin Capital; Rhoda HU (MBA2009), Founding Partner from Dingxin Capital; Vicent WANG (EMBA2016), Founder & CEO of Puture; and Woody HUANG (EMBA2007), CEO of Ruico (Guangdong) Shipping & Logistics.

In addition to sharing the business and operation models of their company with MBA students, the speakers brought full-time positions and internship opportunities to the table.

Many prominent names in the business right now, were at the initial start-up phase not too long ago. Candidates who are willing to commit for a long-distance run and grow together with their respective companies are often more recognised by their employers. Great vision and ambition, with a hands-on and down-to-earth attitude were key attributes mentioned by alumni for MBA students who are searching for opportunities.

The second phase of the Shenzhen Boss Hire Virtual Presentation and Recruitment Event will be held on May 19. In addition, the Beijing and Ningbo online job fairs will be held on May 12 and May 16, respectively.
