August 31, 2026. Shanghai – China Europe International Business School (CEIBS) and ETS China today signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) at the CEIBS Shanghai campus, extending their partnership and renewing the CEIBS GRE Half Scholarship for a third term.

First established in 2022, the scholarship recognises MBA applicants who have achieved significant breakthroughs in their careers and generated a positive impact on society through creative solutions to business issues.

The GRE General Test has become an increasingly important pathway for candidates applying to the CEIBS MBA. In the MBA Class of 2028, 30.5% of the class applied with a GRE General Test score. Their median score was 328, with 14.7% of the class achieving a score of 330 or above. These figures reflect the growing role of the GRE in providing talented candidates from a range of academic and professional backgrounds with an important pathway to the CEIBS MBA.

Under the renewed MOU, the CEIBS GRE Half Scholarship will be open to candidates holding a valid GRE General Test score who are admitted to the CEIBS MBA Classes of 2029 and 2030.

The MOU was signed by Ms. Michelle Zhu, CEIBS MBA Administration Director, and Mr. Stephen Lau, ETS China Chief Financial Officer, on behalf of the two organisations. Both delivered remarks at the signing ceremony.

Ms. Michelle Zhu said:
“The CEIBS MBA brings together candidates from across Asia, Europe and the Americas. Every year, we assess applicants from different education systems, academic backgrounds and professional paths. The GRE provides an important point of reference that helps us better understand candidates from across those different backgrounds. Of course, it is never the only factor in our admissions process. We also consider applicants’ professional experience, leadership potential, application materials and interview performance, with the aim of making a comprehensive and fair assessment of every candidate.”

Mr. Stephen Lau thanked CEIBS for its support throughout the partnership and shared his expectations for its continued development, saying:
“As a globally recognized admissions benchmark, the GRE assesses the exact critical thinking and analytical skills needed for MBA success—from rigorous case discussions to business analytics. Beyond academics, ETS and CEIBS share a unified vision. We look forward to using this scholarship as a springboard to deepen our partnership, expand our reach, and empower the next generation of business leaders in China.”

The latest MOU builds on a partnership that began in October 2022, when CEIBS and ETS China signed their first Memorandum of Understanding and established the CEIBS GRE Scholarship. The partnership was renewed in April 2023 and now enters its third term.

Looking ahead, the two organisations will continue to exchange perspectives on business education and the development of internationally minded talent.

The CEIBS GRE Half Scholarship is designed for MBA applicants who have achieved significant career breakthroughs and generated a positive impact on society through creative solutions to business issues. It aims to cultivate outstanding young talent in business education.
