March 16, 2019. Shanghai – Today, CEIBS Shanghai campus welcomed over 170 Global EMBA alumni as business elites arrived from all over the world to attend the annual reunion event. Alumni from 22 Global EMBA classes made the event a great occasion to meet old friends, make new friends, and further develop their business learning. There were alumni from as far back as the Global EMBA Class of 1996.

CEIBS Vice President and Dean Ding Yuan offered all the alumni a warm welcome, shared with them some of the programme’s inspiring breakthroughs from the last four years, and thanked everyone for their continuous strong support.

This year, we were honoured to invite CEIBS Associate Professor of Strategy and Alibaba Industry Internet Centre Director Chen Weiru to share his insights about New Management in the Digital Intelligent World.

Prof. Chen received his Ph.D. in strategic management at Purdue University in the US, focusing on innovation strategy and organisational transformation. He has received Teaching Excellence Awards at CEIBS, INSEAD, and Purdue University. In 2017, he was selected as one of the “world management thinkers most likely to shape the future of how organisations are managed and led” in the Thinkers50 Radar List.

The next 10-year megatrend will inevitably be a collaborative digitalisation of the whole value chain, Prof. Chen said during a sharing centred on the exploration and implications of innovative cases in smart service, smart manufacturing, and smart supply chain in China and internationally.

Prof. Chen also emphasised how digital technology is reshaping business management style and practice – on one hand, employees are under granular monitoring, but on the other hand, individuals are empowered and activated.

In addition to Prof. Chen’s address, there were two exciting roundtable discussions which also offered some deep insights to alumni.

2018 was another landmark year for the CEIBS Global EMBA programme. In October, the Global EMBA programme was ranked 5th by the Financial Times, earning the distinction of being the highest-ranked independent programme in the world.

In addition to class lectures by top-notch professors, the CEIBS Global EMBA programme is also dedicated to building a platform for alumni’s life-time learning through Class TED events, Master Classes, cultural exchange events, and industry visits. The annual Alumni Reunion is the biggest event for alumni to network and further refresh their business knowledge.
