None of us could have imagined the rocky start of 2020 as we suddenly found ourselves amid the COVID-19 outbreak. Though trapped at home, we have come to realise that the whole world is more closely connected than ever before.

Now in its fifth year, the Global Contest for the Best China-Focused Cases was again organised by the Steering Committee of the Shanghai MBA Case Development and Sharing Platform in 2019. The contest is open to case developers both inside and outside China and serves to further promote teaching and research on relevant management issues and practices in a Chinese business context from a global perspective. The 2019 contest welcomed a total of 254 cases by 467 authors from 85 colleges and institutions in China and around the world. A rigorous screening process was then carried out, including initial reviews, blind reviews, area editor & chief editor’s reviews, the Nominated Case Award selection, and the Best Case Award selection. Amongst the outstanding cases, one case won the Best Case Award, nine won the Nominated Case Award and another two won the newly added Special Recognition Award.

As part of CEIBS’ ongoing efforts to support MBA students and alumni during the COVID-19 pandemic, the CEIBS Career Development Centre (CDC) and Alumni Association have co-organised a special series of C-Suite Alumni Sharing Session webinars.

With the emergence of the COVID-19 crisis and its negative impact across all major businesses and operations, there is now concern about how to make the best of this situation. To help sort through the adversity, the CEIBS Career Development Centre organised their first sharing session of the spring, inviting three industry experts to share their insights and advice.

Over the past few weeks, CEIBS faculty have shared their professional insights on the business and economic impact of the COVID-19 outbreak with media outlets such as Bloomberg, Xinhua, China Daily and CGTN, serving an important guide for policymakers and business owners during this difficult time. Traditionally, the Lunar New Year holiday is a time when Chinese families reunite. This year, however, the COVID-19 outbreak instead created many new challenges and left many in the CEIBS community feeling anxious.
