CEIBS eLab Women’s Day Fiesta
March 7, 2018. Shanghai – The CEIBS eLab today hosted its annual Women’s Day Fiesta Celebrating Women Entrepreneurship. To the delight of all guests, the night got underway with cocktails provided by new eLab startup OLD FASHION. Guests sipped on specialty cocktails handcrafted by bartenders, socialising “the old fashion way” as envisioned by founder Helen Yu (CEIBS MBA 2019) and her team. Helen also helped kick off the evening with an introduction of her company, and her drive to bring her passion to life with handmade takeaway cocktails, accessible to everyone.
The night continued with a panel of special guests, three inspiring women from various backgrounds, professions and industries – Yan Xing, China Regional GM from Chong Sing Holdings FinTech Group Limited; Sandy Chen, Asia Procurement Director from Nike Inc.; and Min Ko, Director at B Corps China team and Partner at First Respond. Together, these high-powered executives discussed the major issues faced by women all over the world, from sexual harassment, discrimination, glass ceilings, work-life balance as well as practical advice for women entrepreneurs today.
With the rise of the international #metoo movement over the past six months, women’s equality and women’s rights is a hot topic around the world. And with MBA2019 students half way through their programme, issues of equal pay, work-life balance and career progression for women are extremely relevant, not just for the women on campus, but for the men who are needed to understand and support these issues as well.
