Nine CEIBS Professors Named Among World's Top 2% Scientists 2026

October 8, 2026. Shanghai- Nine professors from China Europe International Business School (CEIBS) have been named among the World's Top 2% Scientists in the 2026 ranking jointly released by Stanford University and academic publisher Elsevier, an increase of two from the previous year.
The World's Top 2% Scientists ranking comprises two categories: Career-long Impact, which recognises researchers' academic influence throughout their careers, and Single-year Impact, which evaluates their research achievements over the previous year.
Seven CEIBS professors—Professor of Strategy Chen Weiru, Associate Professor of Management Ho Kwong Kwan, Philips Chair in Management Tae Yeol Kim, Professor of International Business and Strategy Shameen Prashantham, Professor of Decision Sciences and Management Information Systems Ricky Tan, Professor of Finance Yu Fang, and Professor of Management Zhao Hao—were included in the Single-year Impact list. ABN AMRO Chair in Management Jiing-Lih (Larry) Farh and JD.COM Chair Professor in Operations and Supply Chain Management Zhao Xiande were recognised in both categories, reflecting their consistent academic contributions to their fields.
Compiled using data from Scopus, the ranking evaluates approximately 10 million scientists worldwide based on a range of indicators, including citation counts, the h-index, the co-authorship-adjusted hm-index, and citations to single-author and first-author publications. Covering 20 scientific fields and 174 subfields, the ranking identifies the top 2% of researchers globally based on their scientific output and academic influence.
This year, 14,582 researchers from the Chinese mainland were included in the Career-long Impact list, while 37,201 appeared in the Single-year Impact list.
This recognition comes as CEIBS embarks on a new five-year strategic plan, which outlines eight strategic priorities: Reinforcing Top-Tier Position, Exemplifying Social Responsibility, Expanding World-class Faculty, Developing Signature Research Areas, Optimising Programme Portfolio, Bridging China and Europe, Accelerating Full-scale AI Integration, and Empowering Alumni.
Among these priorities, Expanding World-class Faculty focuses on systematically strengthening faculty excellence through innovative management approaches. Developing Signature Research Areas, meanwhile, calls for further developing the school's interdisciplinary "2+4+X" research framework and building the world's most influential collection of China-focused business cases.
CEIBS' academic influence is also reflected in other international rankings. In January, Elsevier released its 2025 list of Highly Cited Chinese Researchers, with 18 CEIBS professors included. Of these, 15 were recognised in the Business Administration category, placing CEIBS first among institutions on the Chinese mainland in this field for the sixth consecutive year.
Since 2003, CEIBS faculty members have published more than 300 books and over 400 papers in leading business and management publications recognised as FT50 journals by the Financial Times. CEIBS case studies have reached classrooms at more than 1,200 institutions across over 80 countries; in the Financial Times' 2026 Teaching Cases ranking, one CEIBS case ranked first in Asia and fourth globally.
The inclusion of nine CEIBS professors in the World's Top 2% Scientists ranking not only recognises their individual academic achievements but also reflects the school's longstanding commitment to excellence in both teaching and research, and the integration of academic insight with cutting-edge business practice.
Moving forward, CEIBS will continue to build on its distinctive positioning of “China Depth, Global Breadth”, bringing together leading scholars from around the world and connecting rigorous academic research with China's evolving business landscape.
