OPmobility CEO Laurent Favre highlights opportunities and challenges for Chinese automakers going global

Shanghai – As China’s automotive industry continues its rapid ascent on the global stage, CEIBS Shanghai campus today welcomed CEO and Member of the Board of Directors of OPmobility Laurent Favre for an insightful talk on “Chinese Automotive Industry: Opportunities and Challenges in Going Overseas.” The event began with a welcome address by CEIBS Vice President and Dean Frank Bournois and notably featured opening remarks delivered by CEIBS Distinguished Professor and former Prime Minister of France Jean-Pierre Raffarin.
Present in China since 2001, French company OPmobility is one of the world’s leading global automotive suppliers and has played an important role in the remarkable growth of China’s automotive industry.
Addressing a diverse audience of industry leaders, students, and alumni, Mr. Favre shared insights into the transformative shifts in the global automotive landscape, highlighting how Chinese automakers are reshaping the industry through technological advancements, industrial capacity, and ambitious international expansion strategies.
During his keynote, Mr. Favre highlighted several reasons that Chinese car companies are increasingly looking to expand overseas, including a desire for further growth, solid industrial capacity, a strong base in the domestic market, and their emergence as world-class automakers and technology champions.
The event also featured with a Q&A session where attendees engaged in lively discussions with Mr. Favre on topics ranging from the evolving dynamics between Chinese and Western automakers to the future of mobility.
