China Europe International Business School (CEIBS) is home to a global team of scholars dedicated to bridging rigorous academic inquiry with real-world management practice.

In this installment of the CEIBS Faculty Introductions series, Associate Professor of Finance Mattia Landoni shares how his fascination with financial rules, market incentives, and regulatory frameworks shapes both his research and his classroom teaching at CEIBS. Rather than viewing finance strictly through numerical models, Prof. Landoni encourages students and executives to question underlying assumptions, evaluate hidden risks, and explore how financial systems can function more effectively.

Before joining CEIBS, Prof. Landoni served as a Senior Financial Economist at the Federal Reserve Bank of Boston. He holds a PhD in Financial Economics from Columbia University, a Master of Public Policy from Duke University, and a B.A. from Bocconi University, and previously held teaching appointments at Harvard University, Southern Methodist University's Cox School of Business, and Babson College. His research investigates lending markets, financial stability, taxation, and cryptocurrencies, with work published in top-tier international finance journals.
