CEIBS was founded in 1994 as a joint initiative between the European Union and the Chinese government. That foundation still shapes how the school operates today.

Unlike many business schools that later expanded into China, CEIBS was designed from the start to connect European and Chinese business systems. Over time, this has built strong relationships with companies, policymakers, and institutions across both regions.
