About the Webinar
The economy is changing and growing rapidly with the advance of the current digital environment including the use of artificial intelligence and other advanced technologies. In order to adapt and thrive in this changing environment, organizations have increasingly considered new business models that is configured around data as a core component of the firm’s competitive advantage.
However, to meet the challenges and opportunities presented by the new digital age, organizations also need to transform its design, structure, culture and how talent is used to fully become a digital organization that can innovate and respond rapidly to the various opportunities that can arise from digital insights. Such challenge is more than learning about and developing capabilities in new technologies, but also includes how to motivate and design work for employees to use and capture the advantages of this new technology and ways of working.
China is a world leader in providing an environment for organizations to experiment and quickly make innovations in organizational design to achieve this goal. In this lecture, we examine how technology has provided opportunities for a new business model that revolves around data and the implications of this change for organizational design, employees and jobs in this new digital era. Specifically, we explore the opportunities and challenges that new technology in managing the digital environment presents to the workforce and how such technology and human capital needs to be integrated in order to create a competitive advantage for the firm.
Our Speaker
Dr. Byron Yee Sing Lee is Associate Professor of Management at CEIBS. He received his Ph.D. in Industrial Relations and Human Resources from University of Toronto. Prior to joining CEIBS, he was an Assistant Professor in School of Business and also the International MBA Academic Director at the Renmin University of China.
Dr. Lee’s main research interests focus on Strategic Compensation, Strategic Human Resource Management, Corporate Social Responsibility, and Industrial Relations. His publications appear in Industrial Relations, International Journal of Human Resource Management, Industrial and Labor Relations Review, Journal of Labor Research and Contemporary Economic Research. Dr. Lee has received the Emerging Scholar Award in Employee Participation and Ownership from the Academy of Management.
