1+1 Lecture Tokyo: US-China Trade Conflicts and the Impact on Japan (GEMBA)
We cordially invite you to attend our exclusive 1+1 Lecture on US-China Trade Conflicts and the Impact on Japan in Tokyo on February 13th, 2019.
About the Lecture
The United States and China have been engaged in a trade conflict since Spring 2018. The Trump administration imposed extra tariffs on a large amount of Chinese exports to the US and China responded with a comparable amount of extra tariffs on imports from the US. Will the two largest economies of the world find a way to avoid further escalation of tariff exchanges to a full-fledged and long-lasting trade war? What would be the impact of a US-China trade war on the Japanese economy? Professor Xu Bin will provide his analysis on these issues, including:
- What is the current status of the US-China trade conflict?
- Which country would be affected more significantly by a trade war, the US or China?
- Can the US and China find a way to avoid a full-fledged and long-lasting trade war between them?
- What would be the impact of a US-China trade war on the Japanese economy?

What is 1+1?
CEIBS launched the 1+1 Project, a series of lectures hosted by leading faculty around the world, in 2017. The audience for these invitation-only lectures includes alumni and friends of CEIBS. Each participant is encouraged to bring with them a 'plus one' who is also a qualified prospect for our MBA or Global EMBA programmes.
The core objectives of the 1+1 lecture series are to further strengthen engagement with our international alumni and to provide attendees with the opportunity to play their part in helping to shape the future of the student body at CEIBS.
