But the truth is that the Chinese economy has been driven mainly by the private sector rather than the government, and China’s private companies are now actively transforming themselves in preparation for an increasingly competitive world. What the rest of the world needs to be mindful of is not the government’s rising power, but the rising power of China’s private sector.
