Disruption in the World of Trade and Trade Finance — How Global Trade Evolves around China
Dear Friends of CEIBS,
We cordially invite you to attend a CEIBS Executive Forum on April 26, 2018, with Natalie Blyth, Group General Manager of HSBC, Global Head of Trade and Receivables Finance. Ms. Blyth will give a lecture on “Disruption in the World of Trade and Trade Finance—How Global Trade Evolves around China”.
Global forces are fundamentally revolutionising what, where and how we trade. From the growth of trade in services right up to the internet giving micro multinationals full market access at the click of a button, the world of trade and trade finance stands on the threshold of a new age. Which industries and companies do you think will suffer a huge blow from the China-US trade frictions? Can you offer some advice about how to mitigate the negative impact?
Natalie Blyth is the Global Head of Trade and Receivables Finance, the HSBC business which provides financing and risk mitigation solutions to meet clients’ international and domestic working capital requirements. She has over 20 years’ investment banking experience. Natalie joined the Global Commercial Banking business in 2015 as the Global Head of Large Corporates before becoming Global Head of Client Coverage. Before moving to Global Commercial Banking, Natalie spent eight years with Global Banking and Markets as Global Head of the Consumer Group and as Co-Head of UK Investment Banking. During this time she advised on Unilever’s $5.4bn acquisition of HUL India and ThaiBev’s $11.2bn acquisition of Fraser & Neave. She also led the teams on clients including Kraft, GSK and Diageo. Natalie joined HSBC in 2007 from Deutsche Bank, where she spent three years as Head of Consumer. Prior to this, she spent 11 years at Dresdner Kleinwort Wasserstein where she was Global Head of Consumer. Before her move into banking, Natalie worked as a solicitor at Stephenson Harwood, focused on corporate law. Natalie has a BSc in Biochemistry from St Andrew’s University. Natalie has featured in the Financial News Top 100 Women in Finance list since 2013.
In her lecture, Natalie Blyth, Global Head of GTRF at HSBC, will address the nature of these changes and how trade finance industry is responding. She will explore how automation and digitisation promises to make trade cheaper, faster and safer; trends and trading sentiment within China and the prospects of the RMB challenging the dollar denomination of trade. We look forward to seeing you at this highly anticipated event.
