We cordially invite you to attend the CEIBS Master Class on July 17, 2019 with Annette Brüls, Medela Global CEO, who will give a lecture entitled Empowering Growth: How to Shape the Strategy and Culture of a Global Company as a CEO and a Mom.

Medela has grown from a small, family owned Swiss company into a global consumer brand with 20 subsidiaries worldwide and products sold in over 100 countries. It is the global leader in breast milk feeding products and services, as well as highly innovative medical vacuum technology solutions. Today, the company is undergoing a tremendous change to adapt to the new world of globalisation and digitisation, and to continue to thrive as a consumer brand in a competitive landscape. Medela's brand was built on a strong foundation of science, research and innovation in partnership with leading scientists, medical professionals and universities. 

Presently, Medela's goal is to reach and engage new moms directly, support them on their breastfeeding journey and allow them to live their lives to the fullest and, at the same time, do the best they can for their babies. Medela is committed to ensuring that women no longer have to make a choice between career and family. 

This is a very personal concern for Annette, who is herself a mother of two sons. In her role as CEO, she is shaping the strategy, structure and processes of the new Medela; but even more so, she is creating a diverse company that empowers personal and professional growth for Medela's employees and for Medela's millions of customer moms worldwide.

About the Speaker

Annette Brüls

Senior Healthcare Executive with 20+ years of Experience in Medical Devices  

Annette Brüls has served as CEO of Medela since May 2018. She is an experienced leader with in-depth knowledge of the medical technology industry. Annette has gained wide-ranging experience across numerous positions in the US, Europe and Asia, making her the ideal person to tackle the challenges faced by Medela and continue the company’s successful growth with a range of innovative products.

In 2007, Annette started working for Medtronic, where she was initially responsible for the Western European and Canadian markets, before relocating to Switzerland in 2009. Beginning in 2014, she led the “Diabetes Services & Solutions” division in California. She gained her first professional experience at Intermedics, followed by management roles at Guidant Corporation and Abbot Vascular. The married mother of two sons has a degree in medical and electronic engineering from the University of Liège in Belgium.

Michael Larsson, Chairman and Delegate of the Board of Directors at Medela, emphasises that “Annette is the right person to continue Medela’s successful growth. She has the necessary foresight, experience and empathy, combined with a value-based approach to business. She is perfectly placed to write another chapter in Medela’s decades-long success story.”

Peter Zhang, is an Executive Director and Healthcare Practice Leader for Greater China at Russell Reynolds Associates (RRA). RRA is a global leadership advisory and executive search firm founded in 1969 in New York.

Peter was a Medical Doctor in his early career stage, then served for the leading MNC pharma for 20 years, had overseas assignment in U.S headquarter, APAC regional headquarter. In 2011, he volunteered as Global Health Fellow stationed in Kenya for Population Services International.

Joyce Wang
Senior Mentor, Lean In Shanghai & 
Vice President, Business Development Asia/ Pacific, KaiOS

Joyce is a Senior Mentor at Lean In Shanghai. She has over 15 years’ experience in mobile telecom and Internet industry and used to work for Nokia. Her expertise includes emerging and established markets, strategic planning, organizational implementation and has years of experience building and managing cross-cultural and cross-geographical organizations as well as creating and growing new initiatives. Now Joyce is Vice President of KaiOS, mainly focuses on APAC region.

Now an entrepreneur of Hi-Tech Health industry. Helen has years of working and studying experiences in the United States, Asia Pacific, and China. She has served as CEO of AOL Group, China (NYSE: AOL); Co-CEO of a subsidiary company of Chinese Public company (China A-share Stock Code: 000793); General Manager of Babytree, Hong Kong Public company (HKSE: 01761.HK); China Head of WPP subsidiary company (LSE：WPP (NASDAQ：WPPG).
