“Strategic Innovation: How to Stay Distinctive in a Crowded Market”

Managers are acutely aware that innovation is an essential prerequisite for achieving and sustaining superior firm performance. However, when thinking about innovation, it is common to focus exclusively on new ways of doing things – e.g., new technologies, new production methods or new routes to market. In this session, Professor Peter Moran will explore a framework for thinking more broadly about Strategic Innovation in a way that is also useful for assessing and developing your organization’s business strategy. He will draw on a variety of examples, both new and old, to build a definition of “Strategic Innovation” that will help attendees to think about what is needed to make and keep their business distinctive and to develop more innovative business models.

Peter Moran
Associate Professor of Strategy, CEIBS

Dr. Peter Moran is an Associate Professor of Strategy at CEIBS. Formerly, Dr. Moran was on the faculty of the Australian Graduate School of Management and the London Business School. His research in strategy and entrepreneurship focuses on the mechanisms of value creation and how they are influenced by firms and social networks.
