Vivian Bian, CEO of Roche Pharma China, will outline the company's strategic roadmap across four key pillars: oncology, ophthalmology, neuroscience, and anti-infectious disease. The approach encompasses pioneering cancer treatment advancements to accelerate innovative drug development and clinical application, expanding ophthalmology solutions through home-based digital monitoring tools while advancing neuroprotective therapies to slow disease progression, and strengthening public health infrastructure via optimized influenza prevention systems and early warning mechanisms. Addressing evolving market conditions and policy shifts, the strategy demonstrates how enhanced local partnerships, accelerated innovation transfer, and end-to-end industry chain integration can align R&D with commercialization processes. This framework not only leverages Roche's deep-rooted expertise in China's pharmaceutical ecosystem but also provides practical insights for multinational corporations navigating sustainable growth in fast-changing global markets.

Dr. Dongsheng Zhou is Professor of Marketing and Director of the Healthcare Sector Research Centre at CEIBS. From 2006 to 2017, Dr. Zhou served as Academic Co-chair of SEPC, a joint executive training programme with Harvard Business School and SEM of Tsinghua University. From May 2007 to 2012, he was CEIBS Associate Dean, leading CEIBS’ alumni relations. In 2021, he was awarded the CEIBS Teaching Excellence Award. He previously served on the Faculty of Business at City University of Hong Kong. Before his academic career, he led Marketing Research for a large state-owned trading firm in China. Dr. Zhou received his Ph.D. from the Faculty of Commerce and Business Administration at the University of British Columbia (UBC), Canada; his bachelor's degree was from the University of Science & Technology of China (USTC), China.

Dr. Zhou's research focuses on marketing strategies, game theory, MNE strategies in China, China's private enterprises, and the globalisation of Chinese firms. He has been a Principal Investigator on a number of research projects in Hong Kong and mainland China, and research has been published in the Academy of Management Review, International Business Review, International Marketing Review, Journal of Advertising Research, Journal of Advertising, Journal of Business Ethics, Journal of Business Research, Journal of Global Marketing, and Journal of International Economics, among others. Dr. Zhou has taught company training programmes for GE, Philips, AkzoNobel, Bayer, CITIC Group, Bank of China, Bank of Communications, Tencent, China South Airlines, China Shipping Container Lines, and more. Over the past few years, Dr. Zhou has conducted consulting services for several local and global firms (including IBM and Du Pont) in industries such as advertising, agriculture, automobile, banking, chemicals, food, infrastructure, petroleum, resources, real estate, securities, soft drinks and telecoms.

Ms. Vivian Bian
CEO of Roche Pharma China

Vivian Bian leads Roche’s pharmaceutical business in China with a full P&L responsibility, starting from Oct 2021. Vivian started her role in 2019 as Vice President of Roche China, leads the Roche China Market Access team. Vivian has advocated for a more favorable and sustainable access environment to enable broader access for Chinese patients to Roche innovation, and she has forged partnerships with the healthcare ecosystem stakeholders to improve the healthcare efficiency and patient outcomes. She has also played a leading role in the transformation of the affiliate.

Being the Executive Committee member of RDPAC（R&D-based Pharmaceutical Association Committee) since 2022, Vivian is continuously dedicated to shaping healthcare policy with an integrated approach, and to contributing to a sustainable and higher-quality industry development to benefit more Chinese patients.

Prior to Roche, Vivian worked at BeiGene and Johnson & Johnson. She holds a MBA from the University of Michigan and a Master's of Molecular Biology from the Chinese Academy of Sciences.
