Prof. Zhang Lingling

Professor Zhang Lingling is currently an Associate Professor of Marketing at China Europe International Business School (CEIBS). Before joining CEIBS, she was an Assistant Professor of Marketing at the Robert H. Smith School of Business, University of Maryland, College Park. She holds a Doctor of Business Administration (DBA) in Marketing from Harvard Business School, a Master’s degree in Applied Statistics from the University of Michigan, and both Master’s and Bachelor’s degrees in Information Science from Nanjing University.

Professor Zhang’s research interests span digital marketing, healthcare and the aging economy, as well as AI-driven consumer insights. She applies quantitative models and big data to analyze market competition and consumer behavior, with her work published in top-tier business journals such as Marketing Science, Management Science, and MIS Quarterly. Her current research focuses on leveraging AI and digital tools to better understand customer needs, improve user experiences, and enhance service quality in home-based elderly care settings. She is also a core member of CEIBS’ ESG research group and the CEIBS Healthcare Sector Research Centre.

At CEIBS, Professor Zhang teaches courses such as Marketing in the Digital Era: Rethinking Consumption Trends and Customer Management, Marketing Research Methods, and Principles of Digital Marketing. From 2016 to 2020 at the University of Maryland, she received the Robert H. Smith School of Business Distinguished Teaching Award each academic year and was honored with the Allen J. Krowe Award for Teaching Excellence. Professor Zhang also serves as an ad-hoc reviewer for leading international journals, including Marketing Science, Management Science, Journal of Marketing Research, Journal of Marketing, and International Journal of Research in Marketing.
