The 18th China Automotive Industry Forum 2023
Forum Background
After four years, we have returned! The 17th CEIBS Automotive Industry Forum, held in 2019 and titled "Automotive in 2025: Strategies for Success," seems like it was only yesterday. As the 18th Forum approaches 2023, however, the global automotive industry landscape has witnessed the anticipated seismic shift. New energy vehicles have emerged as the primary battleground in the automotive industry, and their sustainable development has become a central concern in politics, business, academia, and research.
The European Union authorized regulations in 2023 to ban the sale of internal combustion engine vehicles by 2035. "Sustainability of the Electrification of the Automotive Industry" has become the theme of the influential GERPISA's 31st annual conference, the most impactful academic gathering in the automotive industry, held in Brussels this June. One month later, China celebrated the production of its 20 million new energy vehicles. China's sustained growth in the new energy vehicle sector has secured its position as a global leader for eight consecutive years, with a market share exceeding 60%.
Despite the resounding success in production and sales, this forum's theme, "The Sustainable Development of New Energy Vehicles," presents a domain of complex enterprise management challenges. Corporate executives are presently perplexed and even anxious due to these challenges. Numerous executives, including a large number of CEIBS alums, are eagerly pursuing the best business school professors to delve into these cutting-edge industry practices.
The renowned International Motor Vehicle Program (IMVP) initiative, directed by academics from institutions like the Wharton School, has had a significant impact on the global automotive industry. As the automotive industry ventures into uncharted territory in terms of electrification and digitalization, nations at the forefront of this transformation will inevitably face innovative management challenges. Experts in the industry eagerly anticipated collaboration between top-tier business school professors and frontline businesses to address these challenges collectively.
CEIBS has hosted the CEIBS Automotive Industry Forum since 2003, accumulating a network of over 2,000 alumni involved in the automotive industry. The 18th CEIBS Automotive Industry Forum has integrated itself with the industry's practical requirements by focusing on the pain points and genuine issues presented by numerous CEIBS alumni companies. Since the beginning of the year, the organizing committee has scoured the globe for the most talented problem-solvers. The objective has been to organize a forum propelled by actual problems, with the apex of collaborative solution creation occurring on the CEIBS campus on November 29, as detailed in the agenda below.
