Dr. Yang Qing serves as Executive Vice President, Chief Business Officer and Chief Strategy Officer of WuXi AppTec, in charge of several business divisions and the company’s strategic planning and business operations. WuXi AppTec, a world-leading platform company that provides open-access R&D services in areas of pharmaceutical, biotechnology and medical device, operates in China, the United States and Europe.

Dr. Yang is recognized as a leader in the pharmaceutical industry. He is renowned for his strong abilities to build pharmaceutical R&D and service capabilities, promote research and early clinical development of drug candidates, and establish R&D partnerships in China, Asian and western countries and other emerging markets. Previously, Dr. Yang worked as Vice President of Asia and Emerging Markets iMed at AstraZeneca. Before that, he was Vice President of Asia R&D at Pfizer and Executive Director and Head of Pfizer's Global R&D strategic management group.

Dr. Yang received his PhD in Pharmaceutical Chemistry from the University of California, San Francisco. He started his undergraduate study in Fudan University, China and graduated summa cum laude from Michigan Technological University with a BS in Biology. He co-founded the BayHelix Group, a non-profit organization of Chinese business leaders in the global life sciences and healthcare community, and served as Chairman for two terms. He was included in China’s “Recruitment Program of Global Experts” in 2015.
