Ding, Min
Professor of Marketing, CEIBS
Dr. Min Ding is Professor of Marketing at China Europe International Business School (CEIBS). Previously, he served as Bard Professor of Marketing at the Smeal College of Business and Affiliate Professor in the College of Information Sciences and Technology at Pennsylvania State University. He has also held visiting faculty positions at prominent institutions including Australian National University, Fudan University, MIT, University of Cambridge, and University of Cologne.
Prof. Ding earned his second Ph.D. in Marketing, with an additional concentration in Healthcare Management, from the Wharton School, University of Pennsylvania, in 2001. Earlier, he received a Ph.D. in Molecular, Cellular, and Developmental Biology from Ohio State University in 1996, following a B.S. in Genetics and Genetic Engineering from Fudan University in 1989.
Prof. Ding has published extensively in leading academic journals such as Marketing Science, Journal of Marketing Research, Management Science, and Journal of Marketing. His work has earned prestigious accolades, including the Maynard Award and Davidson Award, and has been selected as finalists for the Paul Green Award and the O'Dell Award. He is the author of several influential books, including Logical Creative Thinking Methods (2020, Routledge), The Hualish (2019, Springer), The Bubble Theory (2014, Springer, 2014, 2018 Fudan, this book proposed the Enlightened Needs and Fair Development concepts), The Chinese Way (2014, Routledge), and the novel The Enlightened (2010).
Prof. Ding currently serves as Editor-in-Chief of Customer Needs and Solutions and previously held the position of Vice President for the INFORMS Society for Marketing Science (ISMS). Notably, he led the successful initiative to host the 2016 ISMS Conference in Shanghai, for which he served as co-chair. With decades of teaching experience, Prof. Ding has educated MBA, EMBA, Executive Education, and Ph.D. students across the United States, Europe, and China.
In addition to his academic pursuits, Prof. Ding is actively involved in nonprofit activities. He is the co-founder of the House of Enlightened Needs (Shanghai, China) and the Hua Culture and Life Association (State College, USA).
