Description

Rapid economic development over the past three decades has set up a huge stage for Chinese female players to bring their potentials into full play. Although many of them have had a burst of energy and displayed charm on this stage, those who have played a leading role are still few and far between. According to statistics, female executives account for around 20% of the management in a company. In the newly-announced 400-person Forbes China Rich List, females only account for 7%, while in Forbes 100 Most Powerful Women in the World, there are only three Chinese women included. What on earth are the restrictions for Chinese female to further their career development and exert their influence in a much broader field?

Objective

The programme is designed to motivate and enhance managerial skills and leadership of woman managers and executives, launch an in-depth discussion on how to release their potential and cope with the unique challenges of woman leaders in a cultural and corporate context.

Comments From Participants

Prof. Jean Lee’s lectures are vivid and engaging. The class often shifts between a relaxed atmosphere and a more energetic one as we delved into the puzzles and difficulties women leaders come across in their careers and personal lives. Prof. Lee has not only initiated intensive discussion on a variety of issues, but has also explored feasible responses and solutions. She herself is also recognized as a woman of distinction.

This programme was illuminating. As a female leader competing with men in business world, what are our advantages compared with men? The programme made we female leaders know more about ourselves, reviewing which part of our actions were correct and which part need to be improved. More importantly, I know clearly what to do in the future. What makes me like this programme more is that Professor Li is the benchmark for female leasers. She is so charming! She is successful in both career and personal life. Her wonderful experience is like an interesting book. In addition, the learning environment in CEIBS is so nice, making me want to come back for the degree programme.

This is one of my favorite programmes. It made me feel proud of being a woman, knowing how to achieve a perfect life and how to succeed in both career and family life. In the programme, every participant has chances to display their achievements and to share their stories. The learning process is relaxing and interesting. Finally, it inspired to think deeply about myself. Your biggest rival is yourself, but at first, you have to understand and face yourself. This is the most valuable finding I learnt from the programme.

The Women in Leadership Programme is one of the most fruitful programmes that I have ever taken. The content covered was closely related to women's career, life and psychological needs in sorting out their life path, emotional perplexities and psychological growth. It helped us have a profound understanding of the track of life and growth, and the future orientation of career development. The programme enabled us to gain a deep insight into our future demand, improve interpersonal skills, and adjust career goals. In short, the programme offered us an opportunity of self-reflection, self-improvement and reorientation.
