About the lecture
Talent within organizations has become increasingly scarce and the attraction, selection and management of talent have become a vital source of sustained competitive advantage. In this lecture, we examine common human resource issues faced by firms in today’s changing environment. Another recent trend is the rapid development of technology and tools (i.e. artificial intelligence and big data) that has been applied to different functions such as marketing and production. We explore how digital technology is being used to help a company make better people decisions in the area of talent management.

About Dr. Byron Lee
Dr. Byron Y. Lee is Assistant Professor of Management at CEIBS. He received his Ph.D. in Industrial Relations and Human Resources from University of Toronto. Dr. Lee’s main research interests focus on Strategic Compensation, Strategic Human Resource Management, Corporate Social Responsibility, and Industrial Relations. His publications appear in Industrial Relations, International Journal of Human Resource Management, Industrial and Labor Relations Review, Journal of Labor Research and Contemporary Economic Research. Dr. Lee has received the Emerging Scholar Award in Employee Participation and Ownership from the Academy of Management.

What is 1+1?
Since 2017, CEIBS is launching the 1+1 Project, a series of lectures hosted by leading faculty across continents. At these invitation-only lectures, the audience will consist of our alumni and friends of CEIBS. Each participant will be encouraged to bring with them a ‘plus one’ who is also a qualified prospect for our MBA or Global EMBA programs.
The core objectives of the 1+1 series will be to further strengthen engagement with our international alumni and also provide attendees the opportunity to play their part in helping to shape the future student bodies at CEIBS.
