Library Policies

Library Policies

  1. Readers entering the Information Centre must pass through a metal detector and show valid ID. Readers shall safeguard their personal property such as laptops, mobile phones, bags etc. while inside the library and take them when leaving the library. The library is not responsible for the loss of personal property brought into the building.
     
  2. Readers within the library must refrain from various restricted behaviours, including, but not limited to, the following:
    • Speaking loudly or disturbing the peaceful atmosphere;
    • Eating or smoking within the library;
    • Damaging any items from the library's collection or property;
    • Playing games.
       
  3. Mobile phones should be in vibrate mode while inside the library.
     
  4. All books may be borrowed except those specified for teaching courses and reference, such as textbooks, teaching materials, dictionaries, encyclopaedias, CDD books etc. Journals are usually limited to being read in the library.
     
  5. The number of books each student may borrow is limited to 8 in total. For MBA students, the borrowing time is 4 weeks and books can be renewed for a further 4 weeks. For EMBA students, the borrowing time is 8 weeks, no renewing is allowed.
     
  6. Those who fail to return borrowed books will not be allowed to borrow items again. The charge for overdue items is RMB0.30 per book per day.
     
  7. Library users who lose any items from the library will be fined 3 times the list price. Alternatively, users may themselves purchase the same item as compensation and pay a handling fee of RMB10 per item.
     
  8. Users should treat library materials carefully. All library materials including books, facilities, furniture, and other property must not be mutilated or defaced. Users must pay full replacement cost or repair fees for anything damaged.
     
  9. Library users who purposely damage or steal any items from the library will not be allowed to access the library’s services for 2 weeks and fined 5 times the item’s list price.
