Brief Introduction

A National Strategy of China:
To develop Shanghai into an international financial center

The CEIBS Lujiazui Institute of International Finance (CLIIF) was initiated by the China Europe International Business School (CEIBS) and the Shanghai Lujiazui (Group) Co., Ltd. in October 2007. Based in Shanghai, an emerging financial hub, CLIIF shall serve as an open and international platform for academic exchange while focusing on studying the development of the financial industry and the improvement of relevant legal systems, and providing first-class consulting and training services to financial institutions, regulators and legislators. CLIIF is committed to becoming an influential think tank for the development of Shanghai as an international financial center and a platform for China-EU academic exchange. CLIIF undertakes the following initiatives:

- Conducts research on cutting-edge topics closely related to the development of Shanghai as an international financial center and the modernization of China's financial system
- Provides government with consulting services regarding relevant strategies
- Offers first-class research, consulting and training services to governments and financial institutions
- Trains senior international financial talent qualified for global competition
- Integrates resources at home and abroad and provides a high-level platform for interaction, discussion and collaboration.

The Institute is housed in Villa B, No.15, Lane 2525, Riverside Avenue, Lujiazui, a rising landmark of global finance. The villa has four storeys with over 1,200 square meters of floor space, elegantly surrounded by greenery, and facing the Huangpu River, with its back towards Shanghai’s iconic Oriental Pearl Tower.

CEIBS Lujiazui Finance Salon is a high-end platform for scholars and executives from financial industry to communicate with each other and discuss hot issues. The audience is mainly composed of executives from financial institutions, such as banks, funds, trusts, investment and insurance. At finance salons, financial executives are able to enjoy face-to-face interactions with policy makers, renowned scholars, and outstanding practitioners, as well as share their latest research results and insightful perspectives on financial issues. The Salon will be finally developed into an elite club in the Financial City of Lujiazui.

The Fortune Salon Series will be an open academic platform for practioners from financial industry to communicate with each other and share their expericenses, as well as lessons. The audience will mainly come from financial institutions, such as banks, funds, trusts, investment and insurance. At fortune salons, financial executives are able to enjoy face-to-face interactions with outstanding practitioners, as well as share with each other their insightful perspectives on investment strategies and other financial issues. CEIBS Lujiazui Finance/Fortune Salon will be finally developed into an elite club in the Financial City of Lujiazui.

Financial Law Training Programme

The objective of the programme is to help build up a team of professional judges, public prosecutors and sergeants who master both profound legal and financial knowledge. The program participants are expected to apply what they learn in order to contribute to the positioning of Shanghai as an international financial centre and set a good example for financial judges across China. The comprehensive program consists of six modules on securities, banking, insurance and etc. Through a combination of lectures, on-site visits, and case studies, it will provide an overview and analysis of the macro financial environment, the legal system, as well as key law enforcement issues.
