About CEIBS
China Europe International Business School (CEIBS) was co-founded by the Chinese government and European Union (EU) in 1994, with Shanghai Jiao Tong University and the EFMD serving as its executive partners. CEIBS has campuses in Shanghai, Beijing, Shenzhen, Zurich in Switzerland, and Accra in Ghana.
As China’s only business school to originate from government-level collaboration, CEIBS is committed to educating responsible leaders versed in “China Depth, Global Breadth” in line with its motto of “Conscientiousness, Innovation and Excellence”. Leaders from the Chinese central government and the EU, respectively, have lauded CEIBS as “a cradle of excellent executives” and “a role model of EU-China co-operation”.
CEIBS offers MBA, Part-time MBA, Finance MBA, MiM (Switzerland), EMBA, Global EMBA, HEMBA, DBA (Switzerland), PhD, and Executive Education programmes (see Programmes Overview). CEIBS was one of the first business schools on the Chinese mainland to be accredited by both EQUIS and AACSB. CEIBS is currently ranked #2 in the world in the Financial Times ranking of EMBA programmes, having ranked in the top two for six consecutive years, and has been named #1 in Asia in their ranking of global MBA programmes for nine consecutive years.
Among the best in Asia, CEIBS’ faculty team is uniquely equipped to deliver a combination of “China Depth” and “Global Breadth” through both teaching and research. 120 faculty members, 98% of whom have overseas experience, represent roughly 20 countries and regions worldwide and bring a wealth of experience from teaching, research and business practice. CEIBS has ranked #1 in the Business Administration category of Elsevier’s list of “Highly Cited Chinese Researchers” for five consecutive years and previously held the largest number of faculty on the list in the field of Business, Management and Accounting for six consecutive years before changes to the category system, an indicator of the school’s research capabilities in these fields.
Initiated by CEIBS, the Global Platform of China Cases has compiled over 3,100 China-focused cases, laying a solid foundation for providing China-specific knowledge. The school’s research, which is in the top tier of authoritative rankings, combines the latest theory with practical knowledge. In 2020, CEIBS launched four signature interdisciplinary research areas – China and the World, ESG, AI powered Enterprise and Management, and Service Excellence – and its research centres continually keep abreast of ever-changing business practices in vital fields.
To date, CEIBS has cultivated more than 33,000 alumni from over 91 countries and regions and has provided a broad range of management programmes for more than 265,000 executives in China and abroad.
Each year, in dozens of major cities across Asia, Europe and Africa, CEIBS harnesses global insights and wisdom to host high-end academic and industry forums. CEIBS has become an important platform for exchange and co-operation between China and the EU.
In 2021, the school launched a new five-year Strategic Plan (2021-2025), focusing on Eight Strategic Priorities:
1) Reinforce CEIBS’ top-tier position
2) Expand CEIBS’ world-class faculty
3) Create signature research areas
4) Diversify CEIBS’ programme portfolio
5) Bridge China and Europe
6) Serve regional development strategies
7) Exemplify CSR education
8) Empower CEIBS alumni
Over the past 30 years, CEIBS has grown in tandem with the Chinese economy. In the years ahead, the school will continue to emphasise the innovation, transformation, and globalisation of the Chinese economy in order to facilitate global economic co-operation.
