Modesty & Respect Keys to Global Success

“I am very grateful to have had the privilege of meeting with Chinese President Xi Jinping. On the day we met, the President made a statement in which he expressed the hope that he would be able to realise specific goals through the Belt & Road Initiative.  He hopes that through the BRI many countries will work together, starting along the new Silk Road.

No one has conducted in-depth research on Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, Tajikistan and other countries, but these countries have a lot of natural resources. President Xi Jinping wants to establish contact with them to promote infrastructure construction in these countries, invest in railways, repair roads, etc. That is the strategy he is implementing. He recently said that the Silk Road would not end in Europe, but it would continue to Africa and South America.

As a business school, we often talk about how different countries and enterprises can work together. CEIBS is a Sino-European joint venture, a very successful collaboration. We are a team; we have been a team from the beginning.

Over the years, I have learned that in order to be successful in the global environment, you have to be modest and respect other. We need to respect each other’s differences, and we have to find a way to negotiate respectfully, in the process of learning together. Today’s forum was a good example of such dialogue. It will be beneficial to France, beneficial to China, and beneficial to all countries. We live in a globalized world, we should continue to work hard, maximise our creativity, and jointly promote development along the way.

Thank you.”
