CEIBS Africa Alumni Go Global

February 10, 2017. Boston – An intensive, six-day CEIBS Africa-Harvard Executive Programme saw 23 CEIBS Africa alumni hone their “Global Depth” with a series of case studies and discussions at Harvard University in the US, and a visit to the Cambridge Innovation Centre.

Participants were a mix of entrepreneurs and senior business leaders from local and multinational companies, as well as government officials, and they came from Nigeria, Ghana, Ivory Coast and Cameroun. The group also included a current CEIBS MBA student from the Canary Islands. Organized by CEIBS Africa in conjunction with Real Colegio Complutense and Harvard University, it is part of the School’s efforts to provide life-long learning opportunities for alumni.

CEIBS President, Chengwei Ventures Chair Professor of Entrepreneurship Pedro Nueno emphasized the importance of thinking globally in his presentation about what he termed “entrepreneuring around the world”.

Dean Emeritus at CEIBS and the School’s International Advisory Board Honorary Chairman Professor John Quelch took participants through a case study of the Real Madrid football club which illustrates how companies can ensure that their brand stands tall in the eyes of customers in terms of commitment, passion and loyalty.

Other lecturers in the programme, which concluded today, included Harvard University professors Richard Vietor and Felix Oberholzer-Gee; Chair and CEO of the Cambridge Innovation Centre in Boston Dr. Richard Rowe; and Founder and President of Richi Childhood Cancer Foundation Mr. Ricardo Garcia.

Mrs. Genevieve Duncan Sackey, Branch Manager of Fidelity Bank in Accra, Ghana and a 2015 graduate of the Women Entrepreneurship & Leadership for Africa (WELA) Programme, said she found the US-based course invaluable. "The CEIBS Africa-Harvard Executive Programme equips you with an innovative and global mindset in solving problems. It opens you up to a rich learning experience from top-notch professors, a high level of networking, an exposure to the Boston ecosystem and enormous strategic alliances which give you leverage in today's competitive world," she said. "I highly endorse this experience to all alumni."
