CEIBS Alumni Nigeria Chapter is Growing!

March 18, 2017. Lagos – The Nigeria Alumni Chapter of the China Europe International Business School (CEIBS) is growing! Among the 102 alumni who graduated from CEIBS Accra Campus this January 58 were from Nigeria and they all officially became members of the Chapter today. It now has 171 members.

More than 100 business executives – alumni as well as friends of CEIBS – attended the invitation-only event held at the impressive Ovation Hall in the upscale Victoria Islands neighbourhood. Among the guests was a delegation from the Ghana Chapter and a representative of CEIBS Africa alumni in French speaking countries.

In his welcome address, Mr. Adebayo Sunday Agboola, Acting President of the CEIBS Nigeria Alumni Chapter and Group Head, Private Sector, eTranzact International PLC said he was optimistic that the chapter has a special role to play in not just boosting the CEIBS brand but also in transforming Nigeria’s economy. He urged members to be dedicated to the organisation and actively participate in its activities as a way of expanding the group’s influence in key discussions about the country’s development and becoming a key driver of Asia-Africa relations.

“Almost a decade ago, the CEIBS Africa Campus was established by a visionary Professor, Pedro Nueno; today, we are beneficiaries of this giant step,” he said. “We have a lot of work to do to establish and maintain the leadership position of the CEIBS brand in Africa, as a brand that is known worldwide. As alumni who truly love and faithfully support this great institution, I know you share my pride in what we are doing and where we plan to go.”

Executive Director of CEIBS Accra Campus Professor Mathew Tsamenyi, who led the CEIBS staff that turned out to show their support and help welcome the newest members of the Nigeria Chapter, assured the alumni of the school’s support in strengthening the chapter. He was happy, he told the gathering, that the alumni in Nigeria were already making the school proud throughout their various communities and also at their workplaces. He called on its executives to come up with more events that will bring members closer together.

Today’s event was also an opportunity to honour the late President of the Chapter, Mr. Adewale Talabi, who passed away last September. A ₦3 million naira cheque was presented to his widow, Mrs. Adebimpe Talabi.  The funds were donated by CEIBS Alumni Ghana and Nigeria Chapters, along with five CEIBS EMBA 2009 Nigerian alumni who studied alongside Adewale.
