Yang, Bob

Visiting Professor of Finance, CEIBS

Yang Lei (Bob) is Visiting Professor of Finance at CEIBS. Professor Yang’s areas of specialisation include Investment and Mergers & Acquisitions, Investment Banking Business and Corporate Finance.

In 1989, Professor Yang received his Bachelor Degree of Arts, English for Diplomacy at Foreign Affairs College, Beijing, China. In 1993 he got an M.B.A. Degree (with a Finance concentration) from McGill University, Montreal, Canada.

Mr. Yang is a veteran investment banker.  He is former Managing Director, Head of China Investment Banking for HSBC.  He also worked for renowned international investment banks and multinational companies such as Goldman Sachs, Schroders and Bell Canada International.  Mr. Yang has 18 years of experiences in cross border M&A and international investment banking businesses.  He has personally led numerous important domestic or international mergers and acquisitions or fund raising deals, such as Lenovo’s acquisition of IBM’s PC unit, Thomson’s disposal of its global TV business, China Mobile’s multiple large-size international financings for the purpose of acquisition of assets from its parent, China Dongfang Electric Group’s three-way merger, China Citic Bank’s simultaneous A+H IPO, Communications Bank’s international IPO, merger of Taiwan’s Far Eastone and KG Telecom, etc.  Mr. Yang also worked on investment, joint venture, acquisition, restructuring, and IPO projects in South America, Eastern Europe, SE Asia and South Asia.
