Wierdsma, André

Visiting Professor of Management and Organisation, CEIBS

Dr. André Wierdsma, Professor of Organising and Co-creating at Nyenrode Business University, is Visiting Professor in Management and Organisation at CEIBS. 

In 1986 Dr. Wierdsma was part of the first group of tutors who taught an MBA programme at the China Europe Management Institute (CEMI), the forerunner of CEIBS. After teaching three MBA programmes (in 1986, 1988 and 1990), since 1991 Dr. Wierdsma has each year taught various executive programmes at CEMI/CEIBS. 

Dr. Wierdsma studied business studies at Nyenrode, and did two years at Philips, Organisation and Clinical Psychology at the Vrije Universiteit in Amsterdam where he graduated cum laude. Since 1978 he has worked at Universiteit Nyenrode and is one of the founders of the Executive and Management Development Centre (EMDC); Programme Director of the Nyenrode Executive MBA (Nemba 1986-1993); Director ‘In-company programmes (1993-2002); Presently Programme Director Advanced Management Programme (AMP). He teaches within the field of Management and Organisation with a focus on organisational dynamics. His areas of expertise and publications are: the learning organisation, management of change, complex decision-making and group dynamics, interdepartmental cooperation and leadership. 

Dr. Wierdsma is co-author of Becoming a Learning Organization (1990), an award-winning best seller. His PhD thesis Co-creation of Change (1999) was nominated as ‘Best book of the year’ by the Dutch Association of Organisational Consultants. His latest books are: Leading co-creation of change (2001) and Organizing for learning (2002). Dr. Wierdsma has been among the core faculty at the Scandinavian International Management Institute (SIMI) in Copenhagen since 1996.

Dr. Wierdsma has extensive experience in designing and teaching executive development programmes. The companies he has worked with include ABN-AMRO, Aegon, Digital, Danzas, DHV consultants, DHL, DSM, Dutch Railways, Digital, Deloitte, Ecadi, Etec, Ernst & Young, Fortis, KPMG, IBM, ING, PTT-Telecom, Philips, Randstad, Shell, Siemens, Schneider, VVAA, Vitens and others. Dr. Wierdsma has given workshops on ‘The learning Organisation’ and contributed to executive teaching in many countries including Belgium, Brazil, China, Denmark, England, Germany, Italy, Spain, South Africa, Portugal, the United States of America and Russia.
