On the afternoon of Mar. 31st, forty-five entrepreneurs from various industries in Guangdong Province gathered at the CEIBS AMP Salon held in the Novotel Bauhinia Shenzhen to discuss, together with CEIBS Professor Xiao Zhixing, Professor of Management and the Programme Director for Advancement Management Programme (AMP), the challenges and opportunities that China's enterprises are currently facing.

The Salon started with Dr. Xiao's keynote speech titled "Predicament & Countermeasures to 'Made in China'". He analysed the present situation of China's various industries such as MP3, wristwatch and cell phone, and interpreted the predicament faced by China's manufacturing enterprises after a period of rapid growth. Meanwhile, Dr. Xiao offered remedies out of such low-profit predicament, i.e. enhancing the capability in R&D and branding, lean manufacturing and supply chain system.

Dr. Xiao's speech struck a responsive chord among the entrepreneurs and senior executives. In the ensuing discussions, the entrepreneurs frankly shared their views on such issues as how to create core competence, develop talent training programme in SMEs, build corporate culture and foster employee commitment, and made thorough discussion with Dr. Xiao. They highly appreciated the management concepts and practices introduced by CEIBS professors and considered the salon as a good platform for learning, communication and interpersonal connection. Other CEIBS AMP Salon will be held in the near future in both Shanghai and Beijing. Local entrepreneurs from these regions will be invited for joint discussion on management issues.

CEIBS AMP Salon is one of the follow-up activities of the school's AMP Programme, aiming at providing Chinese entrepreneurs a platform to share business experience and thoughts. Since its launch in 2005, the AMP Programme has attracted hundreds of CEOs and other executives from renowned domestic and multinational corporations. Most of the participants are owners-managers from fast growing companies. Through participating in the AMP Programme, they gain the confidence and competence for building a modern management system within their organizations. For the company to lay a solid foundation in its growth, they must transform from a 'rule by man' to 'rule by law' organization. This year's AMP Programme is now accepting application for the June session.
