CEIBS Kicked Off the Second Global CEO Programme Jointly with HBS and IESE

On March 23rd, the Second Global CEO Programme completed its first module on China Europe International Business School (CEIBS) campus. Based on the success of previous year, CEIBS joined hands again with the world leading business schools Harvard and IESE to offer the CEOs of China's leading enterprises completely new perspectives on strategy and management.

Thirty-one participants come from leading enterprises of wide variety of industries, ranging from telecom, pharmaceuticals, household, finance and investment, automobile, entertainment, textile, apparel, iron & steel, real estate, logistics, electric, chemical fiber, electronics, etc., thus ensuring the Global CEO Programme to fulfill the platform function for top-level learning and sharing. As the industries are varied, competitions diversified, and enterprise stories different, the participants experienced clashes in fresh ideas and benefited abundantly from the interactions during the group case discussions.

The first module was lectured by excellent professors from the three schools, covering the courses of Corporate Strategies and Implementation, Winning Marketing Strategies, Management Control, Leadership and Personal Development, China's Microeconomics and Reform Outlook, etc. On the afternoon of March 23rd, Prof. Zhang Weijiong, Vice President and Co-Dean of CEIBS gave a comprehensive overview of the lectures by the five professors of the first module.

The participants valued highly of Prof. Ding Yuan's courses on related party transactions, international accounting differences as well as recognition of revenue and cost, etc. The voice of Mr. Yang Guangyu, President of Greatwall Fund, represented the majority of the participants, "Previously we consider the financial statements from a micro point of view, and now Prof. Ding reminds us to review them from multiple angles. The global perspective and critical attitude bring me unexpected benefits".

Mr. Wei Guanglin, Board Director of Pinggao Electric indicated that the strategy implementation on which Prof. Krishna Palepu lectured was very inspiring. No matter how effective the strategies sound, without implementation they are mere idle show. Prof. William Burgers's won wide acclaim among participants with his humorous style and unique marketing concept. Mr. Yu Zida, Vice President of Haier, was greatly enlightened by Prof. William Burgers's shared triangle of goals, information and tools. Prof. Wu Jinglian's lecture was unanimously appraised by all the participants with his concise but meaningful narration providing the participants with abundant information related to state policies. The participants expressed that Prof. Wu's perspective in macro problems would contribute to mastery of overall situation.

As is anticipated, in middle or late April and late May, the second and third module of Global CEO Programme would be held respectively in CEIBS Shanghai campus and Barcelona, Spain. The last module will take place in HBS, the US. in June. After the completion of the modules, the participants will join CEIBS CEO Learning Consortium, Round Table Meeting, have the opportunities to meet professors from CEIBS, HBS and IESE, take part in case compilation activities, and continue to benefit from the Global CEO Programme platform in learning and communication.

Global CEO Programme is a special executive education programme launched by CEIBS, in collaboration with two other world leading business schools, HBS and IESE. Therefore, this Programme is designed exactly for those Chinese CEOs who wish to retrospect, reflect and realize breakthroughs on these two perspectives.
