In her current role, Mrs. Peters in responsible for talent identification, leadership development, training and succession planning for all GE executives worldwide. Susan's career with GE began in 1979 on the Human Resources Management Program with assignments in Louisville, Kentucky and Columbia, Maryland. Subsequently she held Union Relations and HR leadership roles in several GE businesses. Susan assumed the Senior HR Manager position for GE Appliances in October 1993 and was appointed a Company Officer in January 1997. She was promoted to Executive Vice President, Human Resources for NBC in June 2000 and became the Vice President of Executive Development for all of GE in 2001.
General Electric, headquartered in Fairfield (Connecticut), is the second-largest company in the world and has a 320,000-strong global workforce. The company was founded in 1879 by Thomas Edison, the inventor of the light bulb. Today GE is a conglomerate with a product range that extends from turbines and light bulbs through insurance to television networks.
