With the development of information and technology, e-payment has become an important industry in financial sector and drawn high attention from all walks of life. In recent years, the e-payment industry maintained fast growth. The emergence of online payment, mobile payment, and telephone payment expedited the industry's development. Nonetheless, policy risks, security hazards, and credit deficiency still exist. In Dr. Lin's speech, she will share her insights on what China's e-payment industry shall do in the face of the macro environment being full of opportunities and challenges.
China Unionpay, founded in March 2002, is the dominant player in China's bankcard industry. The company is a shareholding financial institution engaged in establishing and running an inter-bank bankcard information switch and interchange network. This network enables the interoperability of a wide variety of bankcards in China with about 20 countries through its global network.
Lin Caiyi, PhD, is an expert on Chinese bankcard industry. Dr. Lin currently assumes Chief Researcher of China UnionPay, Executive Chief Editor of Bankcard Research & Consulting, Vice director of Center for Bankard Industry ,CASS. as well as Member of Editorial Board of Chinese Bankcard. She has been the chief writer of Annual Report on the Development of Chinese Bankcard Industry. Dr. Lin has published more than 30 articles on bankcard development in a wide range of publications including American Banker, Chinese Credit Card, The New York Times, other professional financial journals, etc. She also led China UnionPay research team to translate Paying with Plastic written by David Evans into Chinese in 2005.
