Finding Success Outside the Box

July 19, 2016. Shanghai – Ideas that may seem crazy at first can lead to truly innovative business models and strategies, explained CEIBS Associate Professor of Strategy Dr. Peter Moran who shared his latest research findings on Strategic and Business Model Innovation in a Meet New Faculty lecture held tonight on the Shanghai Campus.  He also shared some examples of how companies and entrepreneurs have been successful developing new business models for existing products or conquering the market with a differentiated product or service. His lecture was followed by a lively Q&A and discussion session with the alumni who attended.

The Meet New Faculty lecture series is part of CEIBS’ commitment to providing life-long learning opportunities for alumni, as it gives them a platform to keep up with the latest research and business trends and network with fellow alumni.

Prior to joining CEIBS, Professor Moran was a Senior Lecturer at UNSW Australia Business School, and an Assistant Professor of Strategy and International Management at London Business School. His current research focuses on how organisations and their managers influence the ability of individuals to add value for themselves, their organisations and society. His research has been published in top-tier journals including the Strategic Management Journal, Academy of Management Review, Journal of Entrepreneurship Theory and Practice, Sloan Management Review and California Management Review. His published work has received over 5,000 citations on Google Scholar and is included in doctoral seminars at top business schools. In addition, Prof.  Moran has consulted with many major MNEs such as Booz-Allen & Hamilton and has held process, research and operations engineering positions with the Continental Oil Company.

He received his PhD in Strategy from INSEAD and an MBA in Business Policy from Cornell University. He has taught core courses in Strategy, General Management and Strategic Problem Solving for both full-time and Executive MBA programmes at London Business School, where he twice earned the “Best Core Teacher” award from the School’s Executive MBA classes.
