2015 Alumni Reunion Day

Volumes 5&6, 2015

The biggest alumni event of the year brought around 400 CEIBS alumni back to the Shanghai Campus on November 13-15 for an activity-packed reunion that included lectures, games, and the opportunity to rekindle old friendships and establish new ones. Speaking at the welcome party on the evening of November 13, CEIBS Chinese President Prof Li Mingjun outlined some of the school’s future strategies while Associate Dean and MBA Programme Director Prof Chen Shimin introduced the newly launched CEIBS-Noah Di Shui Quan loan programme which establishes an innovative platform to provide tuition loans to MBA students. A launch ceremony to establish the CEIBS Alumni Association Shanghai Branch’s Third Council was held, and participants heard from fellow alumni speakers, including President of 99 Fund Li Wen (EMBA 2011), CEO of PriceMe Henrik Gunnar Johansson (MBA 2004), and President of MAX-INF (Ningbo) Baby Products Co Ltd Xu Lihong (EMBA 2003).

The following day, participants enjoyed a lecture on Platform Strategy by Associate Professor of Strategy Chen Weiru. On the final morning, Gu Jianping (EMBA 1999), General Manager of the Shanghai Centre – now the tallest building in Shanghai – shared the story behind its construction. Some alumni associations also held activities to coincide with the alumni reunion. The Sinology Association invited renowned scholars Gan Chun Song, Bai Tongdong and Liu Qin to discuss how western philosophy and Chinese culture can be combined to create a unique entrepreneurial spirit, the Culture and Creativity Association invited alumni to speak about moving industry up the value chain, the Shanghai Alumni Choir sponsored the “He Zhi Sheng International Business School Choral Competition” and several healthy activities were organised by the CEIBS Gobi Club and other sports clubs.
