MBA Career Trek to Hangzhou and Beijing

- Students go behind-the-scenes of Alibaba, Amazon, JD.com and Baidu

May 22-27, 2017. Hangzhou and Beijing – CEIBS MBA 2018 students explored career opportunities this week at some of China’s leading technology, logistics and finance companies headquartered in two of China’s most dynamic cities, Hangzhou and Beijing. The two Career Treks were jointly organized by CEIBS Career Development Centre (CDC) and the Operations and Supply Chain Management Club.

The Hangzhou trek kicked off with a visit to big data incubator WuYeCao.  Company Founder and EMBA 2011 alumnus Davy Wang held a sharing session with the 23 MBA students in which he introduced how big data is driving the development of artificial intelligence.  The next stop on the Hangzhou leg of the Trek was the two-day Global Smart Logistics Summit jointly organized by high-tech logistics data supplier Cainiao and global e-commerce giant Alibaba. Cainiao Supply Chain Finance General Manager Albert Zhang shared his views with the students on the changing business environment and its impact on talent requirements.

The second leg of the Trek brought the students to China’s capital, Beijing. The students visited seven companies, including Amazon, JD Finance and Baidu, over two days. Discussions with the management and HR executives at the companies gave students a stronger grasp of some of the exciting developments in China’s finance and technology sectors. They also benefited from career advice shared by the companies’ top executives.

Both the Hangzhou and Beijing Treks concluded with an alumni mixer, which gave the students a chance to network with alumni in each city and exchange career planning best practices as well as stories of life at CEIBS Shanghai Campus.
