International MBA Students Explore China Career Opportunities
- CEIBS MBA Career Development Centre holds 1st local career trek for international students
March 30 - April 1, 2017. Nanjing and Changzhou – MBA students from 11 countries explored the expansion strategies and talent requirements of globalizing Chinese enterprises on a three-day Career Trek to Nanjing and Changzhou that included company visits and a networking event with CEIBS alumni. It was initiated and strongly supported by CEIBS Vice President and Dean Prof. Ding Yuan and Chinese Enterprise Globalization Research Center; and jointly organized by CEIBS MBA Career Development Centre and the MBA International Club.
The expansion of Chinese enterprises both domestically and internationally has led to an increasing demand for international management talents. As one of the most international business schools in Asia, CEIBS consistently attracts an MBA student body that comprises 30% international students from 20+ countries. During this Career Trek, the 20 students who participated heard from senior Chinese executives who shared the insights they gained from helping their companies expand abroad. The companies were all founded more than two decades ago, and their successes make them role models for globalizing Chinese enterprises. The executives and their companies are:
Chervon Chairman Mr. Pan Longquan (CEO 2008) - Best known for their power tools, Chervon aims to be in the top 10 companies in its field globally and has executed several mergers with European enterprises.
Phoenix GM Mr. Gu Jiandang (EMBA 2006) and VP Mr. Zhu Wei - Phoenix a core member of industry 4.0 enterprises in Germany. The company began exploring the China market in 1993, and now focuses on localization and the development of industry 4.0 here.
Landsea Chairman Mr. Tian Ming (EMBA 2005), CFO Ms.Shen Leying, and HRD Ms. Zhou Qin (EMBA2009) - One of China’s top real estate players, Landsea is known for its unique green technology strategy.
Sanpower Vice President Mr. Chen Xiaoyang, Senior HR Assistant president Ms Cui Chunlan and Business Assistant President Ms. Gao Jing (GEMBA 2012) - A conglomerate best known for its investment, trading, healthcare and real estate interests, Sanpower has set a number of benchmarks in global branding synergy and integrated supply chains.
Jinsheng Co-CEO and President Mr. Zhang Yueping (EMBA2009),VP and Chief Human Resources Officer Mr. Dong Zhanlue (EMBA 2015) and Board Member Mr. Pan Jian. - High-end industrial manufacturing group Jinsheng is present in 132 countries, and has completed successful acquisitions of industry-leading enterprises in Switzerland and Germany.
The MBA students also enjoyed an opportunity to meet with more than 20 alumni from the region at a networking event organized by the CEIBS Nanjing Alumni Chapter.
This Career Trek is one of many initiatives the CEIBS MBA Career Development Centre (CDC) has undertaken to help international talents explore career opportunities in China. The International Students Chinese Enterprise Internship project which launched in 2016 has attracted more than 20 companies to hire international talents. The CDC has also held three Chinese Enterprise forums to enable students to explore additional opportunities.
To further these efforts,CEIBS signed an agreement with four local firms to establish additional internship opportunities for international MBA talents. Speaking at the signing ceremony to mark the agreements, Dean Ding thanked the companies for supporting the initiative and expressed the significance of CEIBS enhancing its cooperation with Chinese enterprises and the contribution students and alumni can make on the road to globalization.
