CEIBS Faculty Visit L’Oréal China

December 13, 2017. Shanghai – Vice President of L’Oréal China Mr. Kevin Chen (EMBA2015) and National Sales Business Development Director of the Consumer Product Division Mr. Daniel Han (EMBA2015) welcomed a group of CEIBS faculty to the company’s Shanghai headquarters today.

In a roundtable discussion with CEIBS faculty Mr. Chen introduced the company’s mission and its innovative business model, as well as the marketing strategies of different brands. This year L’Oréal China celebrated its 20th anniversary. CEIBS faculty discussed various strategic challenges with the executives. For example Assistant Professor of Marketing Hyun Young Park and Mr. Han discussed how L’Oréal can distinguish Consumer Product brands from other new emerging brands. Professor of Management Jane Lu was interested in how big data can be used to create new products. Mr. Chen thanked the CEIBS faculty for their constructive ideas and said he looks forward to further discussions on these and other topics.

The company visit was organized by the CEIBS Centre for Teaching and Learning (CTL) to help faculty gain a first-hand understanding of the challenges faced by Chinese companies. Besides Professors Lu and Park, Chairman of Shanghai Hairde Service Company Linchuan Luo (EMBA2012) and Deputy Director of the EMBA Programme Weldon Lai joined the visit to L’Oréal China.
