CEIBS Signs Partnership Agreement with Air France KLM

September 5, 2017. Shanghai – CEIBS signed a partnership agreement with Air France KLM today that will see the airline join the CEIBS Campus Fund as a gift in kind sponsor. CEIBS Vice President and Dean Professor Ding Yuan signed the agreement on behalf of the School and Air France KLM General Manager Greater China Mr. Bas Gerressen signed on behalf of the airline during a ceremony today at the Shanghai Campus. Following the ceremony Mr. Gerressen gave an Executive Forum lecture on how international airlines can adapt to China’s rapidly developing digital marketplace.

“CEIBS is expanding its footprint around the world through its many programmes and activities, thus creating a lot of traffic between China and Europe,” said Dean Ding in his remarks at the ceremony. “This year will see 16 study trips in Europe, The Women Entrepreneurship and Leadership for Africa programme and classes in Zurich. We believe the solid partnership with Air France KLM will further facilitate exchanges between East and West.”

Mr. Gerressen noted that CEIBS and Air France KLM have much in common. Both are pioneers in China: CEIBS being the first international b-school here and Air France KLM being the first European airline operating in China. In addition both are of top quality, the CEIBS MBA is ranked #1 in Asia and Air France KLM is the leading airline in Europe, and both contribute to the connection between China and the West. He also noted that both are making an effort to reduce waste and their carbon footprint. Air France KLM is the number one in its industry in reducing waste. He said that the School and the airline will learn from each other, especially in areas such as digitalization and entrepreneurship.

By entering partnership with CEIBS, Air France KLM expects to boost its development in China by leveraging on this partner’s success in management development and brand building. CEIBS also hopes to form closer ties to the airline industry with this agreement. The School’s vision is to become the most respected international business school by linking East and West and to further China’s integration into the world economy by preparing highly competent, internationally-oriented business leaders.

The attendees at the ceremony from CEIBS included Foundation Deputy Director Mr. Zachary Zhao, Executive Director Global Initiative Ms. Annette Nijs, and Deputy Director of the Logistics Department Ms. Sharon Tang.
