February 4, 2017. Sydney, Australia – CEIBS welcomed its 17th overseas alumni chapter today with a launch ceremony at Sheraton on the Park Hotel in Sydney, Australia to inaugurate the CEIBS Alumni Chapter Australia and New Zealand. More than 100 alumni based in the two countries attended, as did the educational counsellor of the Consulate-General of China in Sydney Mr Niu Wenqi and the China Consultant for Virgin Australia Mr Cai Yuan. The Chapter’s mission is to provide a platform where CEIBS alumni based in both countries can exchange insights, share resources and support each other socially and professionally. “We believe with our efforts, the Australia & New Zealand Chapter will make great contributions to the investment and trade development between China, Australia and New Zealand,” said Chapter President Mr Zhang Feng (EMBA 1999).
“Today marks a significant moment in CEIBS’ history,” said CEIBS Assistant President and Secretary General of CEIBS Alumni Steering Committee Dr Snow Zhou in his welcome address. “The Australia & New Zealand Chapter is the last piece of puzzle; it fills the very last vacancy on the map showing our alumni’s presence worldwide.”
Deputy Director of the CEIBS Alumni Relations Office Ms Tanya Fu announced the first council members. Attendees also enjoyed a speech by Santander Chair in Economics and Finance Professor Xu Xiaonian titled “From Capital Accumulation to Technology Innovation”. CEIBS Alumni Chapter US President Cai Chengyu and Vancouver Chapter President Song Yi were also on hand to welcome the new Chapter.
