SHANGHAI (Dow Jones)--French automaker PSA Peugeot-Citroen (12150.FR) will boost its production capacity in China to 450,000 vehicles in 2009 from the current 200,000, Chief Executive Christian Streiff said at the China Europe International Business School's (CEIBS)  5th Annual China  Automotive Industry Forum 2007 on Monday Oct.29

Peugeot-Citroen operates in China through Dongfeng Peugeot Citroen Automobiles, a 50-50 marketing and manufacturing joint venture with Dongfeng Motor Corp.

The China joint venture will further increase its manufacturing capability to 600,000 vehicles by 2011, with a "long-term" goal of hitting one million vehicles a year, Streiff told reporters during an industry conference in Shanghai.

He also said the company expects to increase its automobile market share in China to 7% by 2012 from the current 4%.
