BABSON PARK, Mass., March 13 -- Babson College issued the following press release:

Four undergraduate students from Babson College earned second place in the Rotman International Trading Competition (RITC) in Toronto last weekend winning a cash prize over $3000.

Seniors Brian Dixon (Fla.), and Nicholas Kyprianou (NJ), and juniors Eric Mara (Conn.), and YooBee Yun (NY), competed against both undergraduate and MBA teams from 33 colleges and universities that included MIT Sloan, Michigan, University of Texas at Austin, Ohio State, and Villanova.

This was the first time that Babson participated in the 3-day competition, hosted by the Rotman School of Management at the University of Toronto. The trip was made possible through financial support of the Cutler Center.

The RITC uses simulated trading cases that mimic various aspects of real world markets. Visit their website at   http://www.rotman.utoronto.ca/finance/lab   to find a description of the cases.

"I was impressed with the students' teamwork and natural trading skills," said faculty advisor and team coach Ryan Davies, who is a Babson finance professor. "The team performed extremely well in each of four challenging cases that included open outcry, sales and trading, APT trading, and quantitative outcry. This competition provided the students with an amazing and unique learning experience."

The top five teams were University of Calgary (1st), Babson College (2nd), McMaster University (3rd), China Europe International Business School (4th), and Penn State (5th). The final difference between first and second place scores was a slim 0.825 points out of 100.
