1. When and how was CEIBS founded?  
     
 

2009 is the 15th Anniversary of the founding of CEIBS. The China Europe International Business School (CEIBS) is a non-profit joint venture established in 1994 between the Chinese government and the European Commission. Note: Its predecessor, the China-EC Management Institute (CEMI), was launched in Beijing in 1984, making it the FIRST & LONGEST RUNNING MBA PROGRAMME IN MAINLAND CHINA.

 
     
     
2. What programmes does CEIBS offer?  
     
 

CEIBS is the first business school in mainland China that offers a full-time MBA, an Executive MBA, and a wide array of Executive Development Programs. CEIBS operates a main campus in Shanghai, a representative office and teaching facilities in Beijing, and in Shenzhen.

 
     
     
3. How many students study at CEIBS?  
     
 

Each year, CEIBS admits roughly 190 MBA students and 700 EMBA students. We have the largest EMBA programme in the world in terms of students. No. 2 worldwide is Columbia University, with approximately 300 EMBA students per year. Roughly 10,000 students enroll in the Executive Education (non certificate) programs per year.

 
     
     
4. Where does CEIBS operate?  
     
 

CEIBS has its main campus in Shanghai, which was built in 1999 and designed by famed Chinese architect IM Pei. At the main campus, all three programmes -- MBA, EMBA and Executive Education -- are taught.

CEIBS also offers its Executive MBA and Executive Education programme at offices in Beijing. In November 2009, CEIBS will open a new campus in Beijing, giving the school its second stand-alone campus. The 3.3 hectare new facility will focus initially on offering EMBA and Executive Education classes. Phase I of the facility will include a 350-seat Grand Auditorium and 7 classrooms seating 500 students in total. The facility will be located in Beijing’s Zhongguangcun Software Park, aka “China’s Silicon Valley”.

CEIBS also offers Executive Education courses at facilities in Shenzhen.

In March 2009, CEIBS officially began the CEIBS Africa Programme, offering an EMBA programme taught in Accra, Ghana. The programme is taught by CEIBS professors, the students meet the same entrance standards as are required for China-based programmes, and receive a degree from CEIBS.

 
     
     
5. How many alumni have graduated from CEIBS to date?  
     
 

As of 2006, CEIBS has graduated nearly 8000 MBA and EMBA graduates and has provided management training for 60,000 executives through the Executive Development Programs. The school has 40 Alumni Chapters around China and in Europe.

 
     
     
6. Is CEIBS accredited?  
     
 
Yes. The world’s 2 leading international accreditation systems are EQUIS (European Quality Improvement System) & AACSB (Assoc. for Advancement of Collegiate Schools).
 In December, 2008 CEIBS was accredited by the AACSB, the US standard for business schools
 In 2004, CEIBS received international accreditation EQUIS, making it the first school in mainland China to receive this accreditation. In June 2007, EQUIS renewed its accreditation of CEIBS through 2012.
 In 2002, the Academic Degree Committee of the State Council, Chinese government, formally recognized the CEIBS MBA degree.
 
     
     
7. How does CEIBS rank as an international business school?  
     
 

CEIBS is the only Asian business school to have achieved global ranking for its MBA, EMBA and Executive Education programmes.

8. What type of students attend CEIBS?  
     
 

For the MBA programme, the CEIBS student body consists of 40% international executives, with an average work experience of 6 years. CEIBS MBA students come from 20+ countries and regions, and all sectors of business, creating a rich, cross-cultural learning environment in combination with an international but China-focused faculty.
Among the Chinese nationals, CEIBS recruits the very “cream of the crop.” These students are totally proficient in English, have solid work experience, extremely high GMAT scores (over 700 is common), and a distinct internationalism.

MBA Admissions Requirements  
• A bachelor's degree or above
• A full-time work experience of two years or longer
• A GMAT score (preferred over 600) or CEIBS Admission Test score
• Proficiency in English 

For the EMBA programme, 80% of classes are in Chinese, 20% are in English (students are generally either in a Chinese programme or an English programme)

EMBA Admissions Requirements  
1. Bachelor's degree or above; sr executives with college education with outstanding achievements may also be considered.
2. Have a minimum of eight years working experience with at least five years management experience;
3. Have a strong command of the English language if applying for English classes;
4. Approval from employer to take two working days off (Friday and Monday) to attend classes each month.

 
     
     
9. Does CEIBS ‘partner’ with other top business schools worldwide?  
     
 
The CEIBS MBA program sends more than half of its students to 30+ partner schools for international exchange. The school has been ranked among the leading schools for "international experience” ranked by the Financial Times in recent years. More than half of the exchange partner schools of CEIBS are among the Financial Times top 50 list.
 
     
     
10. How much does CEIBS cost?  
     
 

CEIBS MBA tuition rates for 2009 are:
 Chinese nationals -- RMB218,000; Foreign nationals -- USD45,000

CEIBS EMBA tuition rates for 2009 (2 year programme, attending 4 days per month) for :
Chinese-language-- RMB368,000;  Int’l Programme (English) --  RMB408,000
