Dear Friends of CEIBS,

You are cordially invited to attend a lecture titled “Introduction of the Czech Republic: Business Perspective” on November 16, 2017 given by Mr. Jan Kohout, Adviser to the President of the Czech Republic, President of the New Silk Road Institute Prague, and former Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Czech Republic.

For most of us, the mention of the Czech Republic calls to mind the novels of Franz Kafka and Milan Kundera, the music of Antonín Leopold Dvořák, and the romantic city of Prague. Many may not realize that the country is also a developed, high-income country, with three-fifths of its economy dependent on services. As an insider, Mr. Kohout will present the Czech Republic from a business perspective and share his views and insights on potential business and cooperation opportunities in the Czech Republic.

Mr. Kohout began working at the Institute of International Relations after graduating from the Faculty of Philosophy of Charles University in Prague. He entered the diplomatic service and worked at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in the Department of International Organisations after the country’s Velvet Revolution in 1990. He has served as Deputy Foreign Minister, Ambassador to the EU, Deputy Prime Minister, and Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Czech Republic from 2002 to 2010. In 2011, he helped to establish the Czech China Chamber of Collaboration and was its President until 2013, when he became the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Czech Republic for the second time. Since 2014, he has served as the Adviser to the President of the Czech Republic. Mr. Kohout founded the New Silk Road Institute Prague in 2015.

We look forward to seeing you at this highly-anticipated event.
