Attracting & Developing Tomorrow’s Leaders: Building an Inclusive Culture that Promotes Diversity, Work-life Balance & Feedback

Human resources issues have long topped the list of the most urgent challenges both Chinese and foreign companies must grapple with. How to retain talent is the focus of endless debates and countless forums every year. As the government’s Made in China 2025 initiative sees more Chinese companies moving up the value chain, and the country’s economic development relies increasingly on service-oriented businesses, many sectors will experience big changes in their talent needs. How are multinationals tackling this issue in China as well as on a global scale? As Chinese companies go global, what lessons can they learn from their multinational counterparts regarding talent management?

The German multinational Henkel employs a workforce from 120 nations in locations across more than 75 countries — more than 80% based outside of Germany, with more than half in emerging markets. It offers a good example of how to build an inclusive company culture across a diverse talent population.  CEIBS has invited Henkel’s Executive Vice President of Human Resources, Ms. Kathrin Menges to share her perspective on how to attract and develop tomorrow’s leaders.
