June 8, 2008. EFMD Headquarters, Brussels -- Alain Dominique Perrin, the Executive Director of the Compagnie Financiere Richemont who is also former President of the Richemont Group and former President of Cartier, has been named as the new President of the European Foundation for Management Development (EFMD).
The EFMD Board of Trustees unanimously approved the appointment of Mr. Alain Dominique Perrin to the position of EFMD President. Mr. Perrin will take over the role from Mr. Ray van Schaik, the former Chairman of Heineken, who remains Honorary President.
On taking the new position, Mr. Perrin said, "EFMD is a European organisation of which the mission is to develop and promote Management Education. It is one of the principal organisations in the world and is a leading figure in the drive for quality standards in higher management education through such renowned accreditation processes as EQUIS and EPAS for Business Schools and CLIP for companies. Very honoured by this nomination, I intend to pursue the mission of Ray van Schaik, to whom I render homage as well as to the rest of the staff, particularly for his contribution to the development of the EFMD network since more than ten years. Asia, and especially China, should be one of our biggest endeavours in the future. Wherever it is possible, I will also strive to increase our effort in bridging the gap between the educational and corporate worlds which I know very well."
Prof. Eric Cornuel, Director General & CEO of EFMD, said, "Alain is a leading figure in the international business community and we are delighted that he has accepted to work more closely with EFMD. His experience and knowledge will be a great benefit to EFMD as the network becomes more and more globally based."
At the CEIBS main campus in Shanghai, Dean and Vice President Rolf D. Cremer sent a letter of congratulations to Mr Perrin stressing the active and fruitful cooperation between CEIBS and the EFMD. He emphasized that, under the tender for the EU-China Business Management Training Programme which CEIBS was awarded in 2007 by the European Union, CEIBS and the EFMD will again host an EU-China Forum. The second one will be held on 5 - 6 November 2008 at CEIBS' Shanghai campus.
