President Zhu Xiaoming Receives CEIBS Alumni Affairs Office Briefings, Offers Strategic Solutions

April 25, 2008. Shanghai campus - CEIBS President Zhu Xiaoming visited the school's Alumni Affairs Office today for a series of informational briefings by the alumni affairs team. During the visit, he was accompanied by CEIBS Associate Dean Prof. Zhou Dongsheng and HR Director Ms. Dong Xuejun.

After staff members introduced themselves to President Zhu, Prof. Zhou Dongsheng delivered a report on the current challenges and opportunities facing the alumni affairs team. Individual staff members then briefed President Zhu on the various alumni chapters, clubs, and activities. Currently, the school has 6,335 alumni, 25 local alumni chapters and 24 clubs. An impressive 84 percent of CEIBS grads are part of the alumni network and in the past year 5,500 members participated in 80 alumni activities.

According to its working plan, the Alumni Affairs Office will focus on the following 10 tasks,
-- Facilitate sharing of alumni information among defferent departments
-- Strengthen the relationship between the school and the alumni
-- Make more efforts in offering continuous education to the alumni
-- Recognise alumni with great achievenments and noble spirits
-- Develop cooperation with foreign business schools' alumni associations
-- Shape the CEIBS Alumni Forum into the top management forum in China
-- Complete and improve the governance of the alumni association
-- Improve the management of branch chapters
-- Upgrade the accuracy of the database
-- Expand the influence of annual events

While expressing his appreciation to the achievements made by the hard-working staff, President Zhu encouraged them to continue seeking innovative solutions to improving the alumni work. President Zhu also warned the staff against complacency. He pointed out that there exist great gap between the alumni work of CEIBS and that of the world's first-class international business schools, and he stressed that we must set clear goals and make active efforts to catch up.

Instructing on how to better the alumni work, President Zhu gave "Five KEYs" to the success:
-- Identify key objectives, ie. to facilitate the alumni to succeed and thus reward the school;
-- Complete key taks: ie. to compete and improve the governance of the alumni association and leverage the functions of the database;
-- Recognize key alumni: ie. to give necessary honor and position in the alumni organizations to those alumni who have made outstanding achievements in their career and significant contribution to the school;
-- Focus on key events, eg. the innovative Alumni Art Festival and Alumni Hearings.
-- Provide key services, eg. continuous education programmes, video service, etc.

In bringing the visit to a close, President Zhu hoped that the staff would learn harder, think deeper, innovate more actively so as to upgrade themselves while contributing to the school alumni work.
