February 25, 2008. Barcelona, Spain -- CEIBS officially opened its new International Relations Office today in Barcelona, Spain. The new office has been established to support CEIBS’ growing alumni network, increasing interest from European applicants, and expanding number of activities held outside of China.

The CEIBS International Relations Office was opened in Barcelona, Spain, on February 25.

At the opening ceremony, held in Barcelona, CEIBS Executive President Pedro Nueno commented that the new office is a fitting addition, given the school’s rising profile in the international business education arena. “CEIBS is growing fast and the school now has global impact,” he said. “With CEIBS alumni located all over the world and with leading Chinese companies now increasingly investing abroad, CEIBS will provide a number of continuing-education services for its alumni located outside China.” Professor Nueno pointed out that CEIBS already offers a series of international programmes for alumni in alliance with the world’s top business schools, and such programmes are poised to expand as the school’s alumni roster grows both in size and business influence. “CEIBS has ambitious international plans for the future. All this requires a permanent administrative and development office in Europe.” He added that the office, which had a soft opening in November, is already busy with projects. “The first three months of operation of this office proves that it is another good idea for CEIBS.”

Another reason for the new office opening is to accommodate a dramatic increase in the number of applicants from outside China. For the CEIBS MBA Programme, which is ranked #1 in Asia since 2004 and #11 worldwide since 2007 by the Financial Times, has seen a marked jump in both the number and the business experience of applicants from Europe, Asia and elsewhere worldwide. While just 10% of the MBA Programme participants were “foreign” students for the 2002 incoming class, the current class consists of 30% foreign students. In particular, the programme has attracted more students recently from Europe, Latin America, India and Southeast Asia.

The new office will focus on expanding CEIBS international corporate, academic and alumni networks and activities, as well as strengthening the school’s international media relations. The overall goal of the International Relations Office will be to enhance the global reputation and brand visibility of CEIBS as one of the world’s leading business schools. The office will be managed by International Relations Office Director Ms. Seanie Comerford.
